Chambord Apartments, Sacramento and Jones
A bit of Paris in San Francisco. For many San Franciscans living in the city means living in an apartment. The Chambord, a fin de siècle style apartment building, was designed in 1921 by architect James Francis Dunn. The apartments include oval dining rooms and hidden storage. The basement kitchen once provided meals for all the tenants. Dunn, a self-taught San Francisco architect never lived to see the building completed. The Chambord was used as a location for the classic 1950 film-noir, D.O.A. In the 1970s the Chambord was slated to be torn down but huge public outcry saved the building by registering it as a San Francisco Historical Landmark as well as listing it in the National Register of Historic Places.

That is such an awesome movie and was just shown at the Noir Festival at the Castro in January.

The locations in the city make it so fun to watch. Thanks for this beautiful shot of such a great landmark in film history.
