Skeet Shooting, Lake Merced
The Pacific Rod and Gun Club is locate on the south shore of Lake Merced and has been offering trap and skeet since 1928. Sports shooting grew into a large and popular San Francisco pastime during the Depression years and only ten years after forming the club hosted its first National Skeet Shooting Championships. Today the club has about 350 members and features a clubhouse and both an indoor as well as an outdoor range. Because of its location on the lake only steel and bismuth shells are used, as mandated by California Regional Water Quality Control Board. The club is open to the public and a round of 25 targets is only $8 for non-members.
