Sweetwater Saloon, Mill Valley
The tiny Sweetwater Saloon in Mill Valley is the type of place where musical history can happen on any night. It's not unusual for performers like Van Morrison or Carlos Santana to take the small stage unannounced. Everyone who's anyone has played the Sweetwater, from Johnny Lee Hooker to Aaron Neville, Bonnie Raitt to Keb' Mo'. Many live albums by acts such as Hot Tuna and Jesse Colin Young have been recorded on this stage. Local comedians such as Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, and Rob Scheider also drop in as a surprise to try out new material. Locals talk of the legendary nights such as when Elvis Costello and Jerry Garcia jammed here together. Or the memorable Steve Miller and Bob Weir show.
