U.S. Custom House, Jackson Square
During the Gold Rush days Jackson Square in the Barbary Coast area of San Francisco was the home to a vicious gang of ex-convicts from Australia known as the 'Sydney Ducks'. The gang was known to shout "huddle 'em" as a signal to swarm their unsuspecting victims. Thus the term 'hoodlum' was born. San Francisco's first vigilant committee hanged four of the Ducks in 1851, effectively ending their reign and making Jackson Square a safer area. Today in Jackson Square, the U.S. Custom House takes up an entire half block on Battery Street. But traces of its history remain, the granite Renaissance-style building's foundation sits upon the timbers of a Gold Rush era steamship.

Two very cool shots you've captured. The perspective in the top shot is great. The detail in the bottom shot is tack on. Out of curiosity, were these both shot on the same day?
