Sunday Morning, Crissy Field
On weekend mornings many San Francisco families find themselves enjoying the fresh air and views along Crissy Field. Previously one of the country’s foremost military airfields, the 100-acre site has been transformed into a spectacular national parkland. Completely redesigned in 2001, the park stretches from Fort Point at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge two miles to the Palace of Fine Arts and the Marina Green. The park features cafes and shops, a tidal marsh, a beautiful beach, long grassy meadows, a wildlife protection area, and the Crissy Field Center that educates on biodiversity, sustainability, and urban environmental issues. On a sunny day Crissy Field attracts hundreds of locals who picnic, bike, jog, fish, dog walk, or simply stroll along the shoreline promenade.
