Night Lights, Bay Bridge
The towers of the Bay Bridge rise over 525 feet above the water and for some that's just too tempting to resist. One intrepid underground club repeatedly scales the protective barbed wire fences, navigates the docks and catwalks, and climbs up the maintenance ladders to the top of the bridge. The climb takes at least an hour and once at the top they reportedly unpack champagne and toast the view. I would assume that the post 9/11 security guarding the bridge would have discouraged at least some of this night crawling but perhaps after weathering the howling winds at the top of the towers, sharpshooters may seem just an annoyance.

This whole site is so amazing. I wish it were a book that I could look at again and again and use to show people and retell stories about San Francisco. What book would you recommend with pictures and stories of the city?
