Maritime Park Visitors Center, Fisherman's Wharf
The San Francisco National Maritime Historical Park's Visitor Center is located across the street from the famous Hyde Street Pier, inside the Argonaut Hotel at the West end of Fisherman's wharf. This free museum tells the story of the men and women who worked on the waterfront and the sea. Exhibits include historical artifacts such as the 280,000 candlepower Farallon Island Lighthouse lens, shown above, as well as sailor's crafts, equipment, ship models, photographs, research materials, and films. The visitors center is open to public from 9:30 to 5:00 seven days a week.
