Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy, Castro District
In 1996 the city of San Francisco renamed this elementary school, Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy to honor the slain city supervisor and champion of tolerance, Harvey Milk. This public alternative elementary school is dedicated to achieving academic excellence, teaching tolerance and nonviolence, and celebrating diversity. Many of the students here come from all over the city and have parents who are gay or lesbian. Other students have various disabilities and learning challenges. All students receive a curriculum emphasizing science, math, and literacy.

i think it's wonderful that you showcased Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy. in a way, i think schools are really underappreciated sometimes in how important they can be and how reflective they are of each community. :)
