Bay to Breakers, San Francisco
As noted before San Francisco is quite small, it's only seven miles from the Embarcadero, along the Bay in the East (top), to the Great Highway and the Pacific in the West (bottom). The North/South limits of San Francisco also measure seven miles. This unexpanding area bounded by water has kept San Francisco's population practically unchanged for the last 65 years, always hovering around 740,000. This is even more remarkable because California's population has grown by 23 million people in that same period of time.
