Boom Boom Room, Filmore District
Every September since 1973 the San Francisco Blues Festival has been attracting tens of thousands to the city. The festival includes a free waterfront concert as well the regular line-up of shows. As you might expect there are a number of fine blues clubs in San Francisco. The Boom Boom Room, shown here, was owned by the great Johnny Lee Hooker who lived in the city during the later years of his life. Also of note are Lou's Pier 47, New Orleans Room, and Biscuits and Blues. Obscure trivia: the food served at Biscuits and Blues comes from actor Danny Glover's grandmother's recipes.
