Opera and Jazz, Maiden Lane
Just off Union Square is Maiden Lane, once the most notorious and dangerous red-light district on the Barbary Coast. The 1906 earthquake and fire however transformed it and now it is a fashionable shopping address with upscale galleries and cafes. Frank Lloyd Wright created a building at 140 Maiden Lane based on his design for the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
