Greetings from San Francisco!
In 2007 San Francisco was once again named the Most Popular U.S. Destination City by Condé Nast Traveler, beating out Honolulu, New York and Las Vegas. Last year this city of 750,000 hosted nearly 16 million visitors. San Francisco's 215 hotels and 33,866 rooms ran at a 81% capacity for the year, its highest since 9/11 and near the city's all time high. The visitors stayed for an average 4.6 nights. 40% of the city's visitors came for leisure while another 35% came for conventions. For 17% of the visitors it was their first time here. While most San Francisco visitors are from the U.S. the five top foreign countries are, in order, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, France, and Australia.
