Roasted Bone Marrow with Bordelaise Sauce, Jeanty at Jack's
Founded by Frenchman, George Voges in 1864, Jack's was one of the oldest restaurants in San Francisco. Named for a curious jackrabbit during its construction, the venerable Jack's on Sacramento Street sated the city's Gold Rush passion for fine French food and over the years served celebrities ranging from Mark Twain to Clark Gable. Sadly, Robert Kennedy ate one of his very last meals at Jack's. It was also here that the Mimosa cocktail was invented. In early 2002 French-born chef Philippe Jeanty purchased Jack's and now operates it as a brasserie, Jeanty at Jack's. Chef Jeanty is best known for his world-famous wine country restaurant Bistro Jeanty in Yountville.
