16th Avenue Tiled Steps, Outer Sunset
Hidden away on the west side of Grand View Park in the Sunset District, Moraga Street gives way to a beautiful set of mosaic tiled stairs. The stairs were designed and financed by the Golden Gate Heights Neighborhood Association and completed in 2004. The steps feature panels of handmade animal, bird and fish tiles imbedded within the mosaic and applied by over 300 neighborhood volunteers. The steep walk up the 163 stairs gives you ample time to appreciate the work of the neighborhood volunteers and when you reach the top at Grand View Park you can turn around and enjoy a beautiful vista to the ocean, 32 blocks away.
