Mini Series, Maker Faire, Day 1 of 3
One of the most creatively inspiring things I did this summer was to attend the Maker Faire. The huge event was put on by O'Reilly Media, the publishers of the popular Make: and Craft: magazines that promote individual creation as an alternative to pre-made products. The Faire was a fantastic collection of all types of creation, from home-brewed software to knitted goods to enormous construction projects. Some of the projects were commercially viable and some were built just for fun.

Picture above is The Disgusting Spectacle, a giant human-powered nose picking machine. Below that is a booth by Botanicalls, a company that has devised a way that allows plants (yes, plants) to call or e-mail you when they need watering. At the bottom is a photo of a handmade flip book for children. After the jump below are photos of a floor sweeper turned into an artist's tool and a wall sculpture made from one long, continous wire.
