What kind of San Francisco blogger would I be if I didn't acknowledge Barry Bonds' 756th home run? I wish this was a photo of that historic home run but alas it's just a photo of a single from a typical night last Saturday when he went two for three with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bonds is certainly the greatest player of our era and even his harshest critics have trouble explaining how steroids could have helped him win eight Gold Gloves and tally nine 30-plus stolen base years. Other achievements include seven MVP awards, countless batting titles, the single season home run record, and now the all-time home run record. Even today at age 43, and having missed a lot of games due to injury, he is currently fourth in the league in slugging percentage and eighth in home runs. I don't know how history will treat Barry but I'm glad I can say, "I saw him play."
