North Beach Museum, Stockton Street
San Francisco's North Beach Museum sits on Stockton street, right where North Beach gives way to Chinatown. North Beach is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods and served as an immigrant gateway dating back to Gold Rush days. The museum contains photographic records and artifacts from the neighborhood's history. Today, North Beach retains its strong Italian roots and the museum reflects that heritage. Pictured above are some displays including old Columbus Day costumes and an ancient accordion. The museum also highlights the lives of famous North Beach residents from A. P. Giannini, founder of Bank of America, to Joe Di Maggio.
