Good Vibrations is a San Francisco institution of sorts. A clean, well-lighted, sex shop with three locations in the Bay Area. It's a comfortable place to shop, more Brookstone than adult bookstore. Founded by sex therapist and educator, Joani Blank in 1977, Good Vibrations offers an open, sensible alternative for those interested in erotica, sex toys, and videos. The company also offers comprehensive and unblushing sex information, programs, and education. Now employee-owned, Good Vibrations' has a friendly, helpful, and sex-positive staff happy to assist gay, straight or other shoppers with any of their questions. The company also offers a Net-Flix-like DVD-by-mail rental service. Part of the store on Valencia street is dedicated to the Antique Vibrator Museum. The oldest is, surprisingly, steam-powered and a more recent model is solar-powered.
