Faces of Protest, Justin Herman Plaza
Last month thousands of war protesters gathered at Justin Herman Plaza near downtown San Francisco to mark the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. The varied group of protesters ranged from a former Marine sergeant who served two tours in Iraq to Native American peace activist, Morning Star Gali of California's Pit River tribe. The diverse group of protesters seems to indicate that the unhappiness with the war in San Francisco spans all economic, ethnic, and religious divisions. The protesters listened to speeches from local activists and politicians before marching down Market Street to the Civic Center for a large rally. MORE FACES.
