Seal Stadium, Potrero Hill
Before Major League Baseball came West, before the New York Giants became the San Francisco Giants, and before Willie Mays, there were the San Francisco Seals. Dating back to 1905, the Seals of the Pacific Coast League played here in Seal Stadium from 1931 through 1957. In fact the team set a season attendance record of 670,000, a minor league record that stood for almost 40 years. In 1932 Seals' outfielders Vince and Dom DiMaggio arranged a tryout for their younger brother Joe, he made the team and for awhile all three San Francisco brothers played together for the Seals. Today the site of Seal Stadium is a recreational park which includes this soccer field.
