Labyrinth, Grace Cathedral
Grace Cathedral revived the nearly forgotten, centuries-old tradition of walking labyrinths by creating this tapestry in 1994. Labyrinths were a common feature in medieval cathedrals. Walking one is a mind-calming practice meant to clear the head and lift the mood. The single-path design represents the journey of the soul and is followed for spiritual insight and healing. One year later the Cathedral built another of terrazzo stone outside. That one became the first permanent labyrinth constructed in the Western Hemisphere in 600 years. For those of you less interested in medieval architectural history, this is the cathedral where Courtney Cox and David Arquette were married.
