Pet Cemetery, Presidio
Near the K9 Corps and horse stables in the middle of the Presidio is an unlikely sight for a military base, a quaint little pet cemetery surrounded by a white picket fence. The origin of the cemetery is somewhat murky but a few of the grave markers date back to the 1950s and include names such as Daddy's Little Boy, My Rat, Spike, Macaroni Heart, and Puggo. The markers list birthplaces like China, England, Australia, and Germany. While burials are no longer permitted here that doesn't prevent new graves and markers from occasionally appearing. The new graves are presumably put there during the cover of night.
