Boulder, West Marin
All along the rolling hills of West Marin are boulders that appear to have dropped from the sky. Some are the size of suitcases others, as large as three story buildings. One might imagine that these boulders are the jetsam from ancient glaciers but actually they are the result of deep ocean floor volcanic and hot spring activities. The boulders escaped upward and traveling at the rate of about 2-6 cm per year arrived here to add more drama to the local landscape.
