49.491 Feet Above Sea Level
According to the U.S. Geological Survey the San Francisco sea level has risen 8 inches over the last 100 years. But San Francisco is much better shape than most U.S. coastal areas with the Atlantic and Gulf coasts identified as vulnerable according to the EPA's 1989 report on rising sea levels. For those with an oceanological interest, high and low tides occur in the San Francisco Bay twice a day, with a maximum difference of about six and a half feet. The tide levels are lower in spring and higher in early autumn through winter. I apologize for this detour into the natural sciences and will attempt to return to a more salacious topic tomorrow.
