Staging Area, Festival of Chariots
The Annual Festival of Chariots put on by the Hare Krishna in Golden Gate Park featured 30 foot tall Rathayatra Chariots, two of which can seen here in the back. These brightly colored chariots, covered with fresh flowers and bearing the diety statues, were pulled by hundreds of devotees who chanted, drummed, and danced along the parade route to the festival grounds that featured foods and craft stalls along with spiritual entertainment.
