One Block, Two Tales
In San Francisco every building has a story to tell. On the left side of the street is the famous 100 year old, hole-in-the-wall, Sam Wo restaurant which stays open until 3 am. Sam Wo's reached cult status due to its legendary and rude waiter, Edsel Ford Fong who would tell diners where to sit, how to sit, and what to order. "You want tea? Get it yourself!" On the right side of the street is the Golden Dragon restaurant site of the deadly 1977 shootout between the Joe Boys and Wah Ching street gangs of Chinatown. The Golden Dragon Massacre left five by-standers dead and eleven wounded. No member of either gang was injured.
