Buffalo Bill Cody at Ocean Beach
As a follow up to yesterday's post on the Cliff House, today we feature a post on an unusual sight at Ocean Beach last week. This 120-piece installation by artist Thom Ross depicts life-sized mounted figures inspired by a 1902 photograph of Buffalo Bill Cody and his Wild West Show taken at this same Ocean Beach location, under the Cliff House.

Ross, a native San Franciscan who now lives in Seattle, created the enormous tableau to honor both Cody and his Wild West troupe. About three dozen Yurok and Lakota Native Americans were on hand for the installation's opening. A medicine man blessed the work with smudge sticks and a call for a connection between all people who view the work.
