Saul Zaentz Media Center, Berkeley
When considering San Francisco Bay Area film makers names such as Francis Coppola, George Lucas, Wayne Wang, and Pixar come to mind. But one lesser-known name has had just as much influence on American film making, Saul Zaentz. Described by The New York Times as "perhaps the last of the great independent producers" Zaentz produced One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The English Patient, and Amadeus among other films.

For more than 20 years independent filmmakers from around the world have used the Saul Zaentz Media Center to finish their productions and those films have earned 26 Academy Awards, including three for Best Picture. In addition, Zaentz's music label, Fantasy Records was the first record company to record Dave Brubeck, Lenny Bruce and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The label went on to become the largest jazz record label in the world.
