The Stick, Candlestick Point
Previously known as Candlestick Park, 3Com Park, San Francisco Park at Candlestick Point and now, Monster Park this park is still colloquially called Candlestick Park or simply 'The Stick.' It was built in 1960 as a home for the San Francisco Giants who had just moved from New York City. It was here in 1989 that a 7.1 earthquake disrupted the World Series between the Giants and the Oakland A's.

Candlestick's frigid summer night baseball games were legendary and fans who stayed for extra inning games were awarded with the coveted Croix De Candlestick pin. In fact, The Stick was the only major league ballpark where the visitors sat in the left dugout rather than the right. This was due to the icy winds that would blow into the left side dugout. The Giants now play at AT&T Park downtown. The Stick is still the home for the San Francisco 49ers although the Oakland Raiders played their first AFL season at The Stick in 1961.

Candlestick Park was also the location of the Beatles' last live concert. In August 29, 1966 the Fab Four began the concert with 'Rock and Roll Music' and ended with 'Long Tall Sally ' and while they would record together until 1970, the Beatles would never again play live in concert.
