Mission Cliffs, Mission District
In 1994 Mark and Debra Melvin founded Touchstone Climbing in hopes of bringing indoor rock climbing to San Francisco. 14 years and seven Bay Area locations later Touchstone Climbing is arguably the most well-known indoor climbing operation in the world. This space, Mission Cliffs was their first location. It features a 50-foot high lead wall, 14,000 square feet of climbing terrain, and 2,00 feet of bouldering. If your workout interests tend to the more terrestrian, the gym features free weights, aerobics, yoga, indoor cycling, and cardio boxing. Nationwide interest in rock climbing has grown over the years and last year there were more than half a million user visits to the Touchstone Bay Area facilities.
