Billboard Advertising, Union Square
San Francisco is home to some of the top advertising firms in the country. Over the last two decades the city has risen from a good agency city to a premier location due in part to the area's pioneering in computer graphics and a large pool of young creative talent. Well known agencies include multiple 'Agency of the Year' winner Goodby, Silverstein & Partners (Got Milk?) and Publicis & Hal Riney (Ronald Reagan's 1984 'Morning in America' campaign ad). The success of advertising here may date back to 1873 when a severe heat wave withered all the grapes on the vine. A local San Francisco man advertised the useless shriveled grapes as 'Peruvian Delicacies.' California is now the world's leading producer of raisins.
