Eagle Cafe, Pier 39
San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf is a fun place with lots of attractions, shopping, restaurants and entertainment. But one thing it isn't, is authentic. Other than a couple old maritime outfitters and a few fishing boats, it's mostly a made-for-tourists district. One exception to this is the Eagle Cafe which was named a city landmark in 1978. Realizing this the developers of Pier 39 jacked up and moved this entire 1920s waterfront bar and cafe and had it installed on the Pier. Run by the same family, the Andreottis since it opened, the Eagle Cafe is a great place to start your day with a hearty breakfast before exploring the Wharf or taking a ferry over to Alcatraz. Oh, but be sure not to confuse the Eagle Cafe with the Eagle Tavern, that's a gay leather bar South of Market (their breakfasts aren't nearly as good).
