Chowder Hut, North Point
Every city has its own signature street food. Philadelphia has its cheese steak, Chicago has its deep pizza, and Buffalo its hot wings. While they may not be the finest dishes served in the city, they're the guilty pleasures that you crave when you've been away for a while. San Francisco's version of street food is clam chowder served in a fresh-baked sourdough bread bowl. First served by Boudin's, a bakery which dates back to 1849, the hearty meal is just the thing to take away the chill on those cool summer afternoons walking along Fisherman's Wharf. And, unlike those other cities' foods, you can eat the dish when you're finished.
