Mini Series, Day 2 of 3
While primarily a children's discovery museum, the Exploritorium has exhibits that adults will enjoy and learn from as well. One of the most popular attractions is the Tactile Dome pictured above. It was built in 1971 by Dr. August Coppola (brother of filmmaker, Frances Ford Coppola and father of actor, Nicholas Cage). The Dome is a one-way, soundproof, lightproof maze that you must climb, crawl and slide through, navigating only by feel. The popular Exploritorium is often rented out for private parties and there are many stories of people late at night experiencing the Tactile Dome in the nude, including one rather unconventional gathering of Mensa.
