Bear Valley, Point Reyes National Seashore
Within the 88,000 acres that make up the Point Reyes National Seashore are more than 150 miles of hiking trails. Some hikes will take you along beaches, others lead to lagoons, and some hikes travel to light houses. Some are coastal trails along high ridges while others pass through lush woods and meadows. Some hikes will travel through Tule Elk preserves and another ends at a habitat for the enormous Elephant Seals. Whatever kind of hike you're looking for, from easy to challenging, from half an hour to six hours, you'll find it at Point Reyes. But wherever trail you choose, you should start your hike at one of the Seashore's two visitor centers to get maps, trail information, wildlife education, weather updates, and hiking tips. The Bear Valley Visitor Center shown above is located at the trail head of many of the Seashore's most popular hiking trails.
