At the festival there were a number of performance stages as well as some dancing taking place right in the middle of the street. Many people and stores were decorated with symbolic flowers such as narcissus (good fortune), peony (wealth), and orchid (love and fertility). The 15th day of the New Year is also the Lantern Festival, so many red lanterns were hung around Chinatown to honor the day while firecrackers frightened the bad spirits away.
