Looking North, Stinson Beach
For over a century San Franciscan's wanting a getaway have flocked to Stinson Beach. Only ten miles from the city, this three-mile white sand beach is a favorite spot for surfing, picnicking, and beach volleyball. In the 19th century the tiny town of Stinson Beach was was accessible only by sailing schooner or by horseback and today it remains a relatively sleepy seaside resort community. While it is one of the warmer beaches for swimmers in the Bay Area, rip tides currents and a history of shark attacks require checking for warning updates before engaging in any water sports.
