Passage, Pier 14
For those looking to get their freak on, the Burning Man Festival [FB] is being held right now in Black Rock Desert. To mark the occasion, today's post features this newly installed sculpture, 'Passage' which sits on Pier 14 in San Francisco. The work was originally erected at Burning Man 2005 by artists Dan Das Mann and Karen Cusolit. While 37,000 "Burners" celebrate this year's event in the Nevada Desert, a group of San Francisco scientists are working with the festival organizers to create The Cooling Man, a project that aims to calculate and offset the tons of greenhouse gases emitted by the event, much the same way large corporations do, by encouraging attendees to invest in clean energy projects. Of course if you are one of those people who thinks Global Warming is all a lie, I'm guessing you're probably not going to Burning Man anyway.
