The San Francisco Bay Area has been home to thousands of inventions, both great and small. Besides the previously mentioned ones such as the television, the cable car, blue jeans, and the motion picture, the area also developed the laser, the microprocessor chip, the computer mouse (among many Silicon Valley inventions), the VCR, and gene splicing. Lesser inventions include the jukebox, the piano accordion, the Murphy bed, the slot machine, the mountain bike, the hot tub, and the Segway.
