Above the Fog, Marin Headlands
Nearly every summer afternoon the fog rolls in off the Pacific to blanket San Francisco. If you are interested in a different view of this daily phenomenon you can cross the Golden Gate Bridge and drive up into the hills of the Marin Headlands. At about 500 feet you'll rise up into sunshine and find yourself overseeing a vast blanket of fog, as far as the eye can see. From this spot San Francisco and even the Pacific Ocean disappear and you can believe yourself in another world.
