Living Robots, Fisherman's Wharf
With over 15 million people visiting San Francisco every year and most of them heading to Fisherman's Wharf, here's a few tips. First, you can skip most of Pier 39 except for the sea lions and maybe the Eagle Cafe for a drink. The aquarium, Underwater World is more like Underwhelming World and you should already know enough to skip the t-shirt shops, the Wax and Ripley's Believe It or Not museums, and the themed chain restaurants. That being said, there are some great things to enjoy at Fisherman' Wharf. The highly recommended, Alcatraz tour and bay cruise ships leave from the wharf area, also the Musee Mecanique is interesting, as is the USS Pampanito submarine tour. The sidewalk crab and seafood vendors and Boudin's Sourdough are fresh and delicious and if you HAVE to shop, Ghirardelli Square and The Cannery offer some nice stores and restaurants. Other than that, just take in the great views, the people-watching, and if you see these two kids, give'em a buck or two and enjoy the show.
