209 - Atrium, One Rincon Center
One Rincon Center in downtown San Francisco is an office and residential court in the renovated, historic Rincon Annex post office. The original structure, built in 1939, featured the largest work ever commissioned by the WPA, 27 murals by Russian painter Anton Refregier. The paintings depict scenes from California’s history. In the center of the atrium is the five story 'Rain Column' waterfall. The atrium is a favorite banquet location because of its spectacular skylight roof and the fantastic deem sum served by one of my favorite restaurants, Yank Sing, which is located in the One Rincon Center lobby.
