Carriage Entrance, Fairmount Hotel
The 600 room Beaux Arts-style structure was designed by architect Julia Morgan who also designed William Randolph Heast's Castle in San Simeon. Every U.S. president since Harry Truman has stayed a the Fairmont and it was here that Tony Bennett sang 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco' for the first time. The historic hotel was also where delegates gathered to draft the United Nations Charter in 1945. Some may recognize the hotel as the fictional, 'St. Gregory' from the 1980s television series.
