Mini Series Day 5 of 6, The Ghost Bride of California Street
In 1876, the parents of Flora Summerton arranged a financially convenient marriage for their teenage daughter with a much older and wealthier man. Flora found she could not stand the man and on the eve of her wedding, while trying on her wedding gown, she ran out of the house, down the street, and disappeared. Her family searched long for her without any success. Many years later Flora was found dead in a boarding house in Butte, Montana. She was wearing the same wedding gown she'd escaped in years before. Her body was returned to San Francisco and buried. Flora's spirit may still feel trapped because on many evenings her ghost, dressed in her wedding gown, runs out of her family's old house, and down the middle of the street on this block of California, between Powell and Jones. She glares angrily at onlookers before disappearing into the night.
