The Condor, Broadway
One of the wildest San Francisco stories took place here in the nightclub once owned by the famous Carol Doda. In 1980s the Condor Club, as it was then called, was known for an adult revue that finished with a topless Doda ascending to the second floor, seated on her flying piano. A notorious incident took place in 1983 when a club bouncer and a waitress decided to have an afterhours tryst on top of the piano. During their love making the piano's hydraulic switch was accidentally pressed and the piano raised to the ceiling, crushing the two intertwined lovers. The manager was killed and the waitress was pinned beneath him the entire night until the pair were discovered the next morning.
