Everyone can use a friend. The San Francisco SPCA, founded in 1868, is a model and national leader in concerns for companion animals with nearly 3,000 dog and cat adoptions last year. It has a policy of guaranteeing that no adoptable dog or cat will be ever be euthanized and has been at the national forefront in that effort. The organization's annual budget of over $11 million comes soley from donations, grants, bequests, and fees with no government or tax funding.
